How to Get to Sector Z in Star Fox

"Star Fox 64," like its predecessor, offers multiple pathways to get from Corneria to Venom. In the Super Nintendo version of "Star Fox," you have a set course to travel. In the Nintendo 64 game, your performance on a stage determines the next level you play. To play the game completely on the hard path and earn medals and bragging rights, you have to successfully fulfill the mission requirement on Zoness to get to Sector Z before moving on to Area 6 and then Venom.

Instructions

- 1
  Attempt to reach Zoness with at least two extra lives. To reach Zoness, pass through Aquas, which requires 100 points in Sector Y.

  Progress through the level. Eventually, Falco's girlfriend Katt appears. Let her help you defeat enemies and ignore that her and Falco are two different species.

  Fly to the right side of the screen when Katt offers to take the left side. Shoot the searchlights protruding from the water.

  Avoid flying too low; the tides of the water will pull you under and make you lose control of the Arwing, causing damage and making you miss searchlights in the process.

  Shoot the wheel-like protrusions on the sides of the gates whenever you encounter them in the level. Some searchlights are hidden behind them, so their beams are hidden.

  Defeat the boss and you will progress to Sector Z if you destroyed all the searchlights. If you missed one, the searchlight beams turn red. Press "Start" and then "Retry" to give the level another try at the cost of a life.
