How to Burn Bushes in Zelda

"The Legend of Zelda," released in 1986, spawned one of Nintendo's flagship game series. Many of the secret caves and levels in the game are concealed by bushes, which you must burn to expose the entrances. Burning these bushes requires a candle, of which there are two varieties in the game. Once you have a candle, burning a bush is fairly straightforward.

Instructions

  Defeat enough enemies to earn 60 rupees, the in-game currency.

  Purchase a blue candle, available at many shops within the game. The closest shop from the starting position is one screen up and one screen to the left.

  Press the "Start" button on your controller to pull up the inventory screen. Use the directional pad to select the blue candle, and then press "Start" again to return to the game.

  Stand next to a bush with one body's worth of empty space in between you and the bush.

  Press the "B" button on the controller to light a fire. The flame will slide across the empty space and come to rest on the bush. If it can be burned, it will disappear.

  Walk out of the current screen and re-enter to try burning another bush. The blue candle only works one time per screen.
