How to Get the Sealed Chest in Chrono Trigger

During your "Chrono Trigger" playthrough you may have noticed black treasure chests with golden insignias on them. For most of the game, trying to open these treasure chests gives you the message "Sealed by a mysterious force" and no item. These chests have powerful items inside them, but to open them you need a special item. If you've been paying attention, you remember Marle's pendant; this is actually plot-important and will allow you to open the sealed chests.

Instructions

- 1
  Make your way to Zeal Palace in 12,000 B.C.

  Go to the top right door and take the door on the right side. Wait for the cut scene to finish as Schala walks out of the room.

  Go to the room on the left side with the blue nu standing in front of it. Talk to it and it will move aside. Talk to each of the people in the room with the mammon machine; they will tell you about Queen Zeal, the gurus and the mammon machine powering the kingdom of Zeal.

  Exit the room and go toward the central door that the twins Masa and Mune were blocking. You'll notice they have left, allowing you to pass.

  Wait for Schala to go through the sealed door down the next corridor and talk to the two women standing at the entrance. Go up to the resealed door and try to open it.

  Go back to the room with the mammon machine, walk up to the pedestal and press "A" to interact with the machine. Marle's pendant will glow and recharge. You can now open the sealed chests scattered throughout time.
