How to Make a Turn-Based Game

Back in the 1990s, turn-based roleplaying games like "Final Fantasy VII" were huge crossover hits. They proved that roleplaying titles could succeed among gamers who preferred shooting and sports titles. If you're feeling nostalgic for the days of turn-based combat, create your classic console-style roleplaying game even if you know nothing about computer programming. Download RPG Maker 2003, a point-and-click roleplaying game creation engine, and get to work. You'll be reliving your favorite "Final Fantasy" and "Dragon Warrior" memories before you know it.

Write out a storyboard with the action for your game. If you run out of ideas, play a turn-based roleplaying game classic like "Chrono Trigger" or "Phantasy Star 2." Decide who the main characters will be, what their quest or object will consist of and who will antagonize them throughout the game.
