How to Move the King in Ocarina of Time

After you meet King Zora in "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time," you'll discover that he's blocking the path to Jabu-Jabu, the next dungeon in the game. To move King Zora out of the way, you'll have to convince him to let you search for his missing daughter, Princess Ruto. At the bottom of Lake Hylia, there's a letter that will change King Zora's mind. To retrieve it, you'll need the Silver Scale, which will allow Link to dive deeper than before.

Instructions

    • 1

Go down the tunnel on the left side of King Zora. Speak with the Zora at the end and pay 20 rupees to begin the diving mini-game.

    • 2

Win the diving mini-game by swimming above the rupees. Hold "A" to dive down and collect them. Try to pick up more than one rupee with each dive. Grab all the rupees and return to the Zora. You will receive the Silver Scale.

    • 3

Jump down from the waterfall and move south. Submerge and locate the tunnel beneath the surface. Go through the tunnel to arrive at Lake Hylia.

    • 4

Swim forward a short distance and dive down to the bottom of the lake. Search next to the pillar to find the Bottle with the letter inside. Pick it up and head through the tunnel again.

    • 5

Go back to King Zora's Throne Room and give him the Bottle. King Zora will read the letter and move aside, allowing passage to Zora's Fountain.
