How to Hook Up a Magnavox 300 to a New TV

The Magnavox Odyssey 300 brought a pong-like game into homes across America in 1976. Televisions at this point in history were quite different than they are today. As this system was developed to connect to the antenna input on the televisions of 1976, you will have a hard time connecting it to your modern television. You will need to purchase an adapter before you can hook the system up. With the adapter, you will be able to connect it through the coaxial input, which is typically used for cable wires.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a 75 to 300 Ohm transformer. This will convert the 300 Ohm UHF antenna leads from the Magnavox Odyssey to a 75 Ohm coaxial line you can use on your modern television.

    • 2

Purchase a coaxial female to female cable joiner. Screw this part into the transformer you purchased in step one.

    • 3

Loosen the screws on the transformer. Insert the antenna leads from the console under the screws. Tighten the screws back down to hold the connection in place.

    • 4

Connect a coaxial cable to the cable connector on your transformer. Tighten the nut on the coax connector to hold the cable in place. Connect the other end to your television.

    • 5

Plug in the Odyssey 300's power cord into a power source. You are now ready to play the Odyssey 300.
