How to Kill the Tentacles in Ocarina

While battling your way through the Water Temple in "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" you'll come across an odd boss named Morpha. This being, known as the Aquatic Amoeba, forms large tentacles of water that can scoop Link up and hurl him against the wall to land on spikes. At first, the tentacles may seem impossible to kill, which is only partly true. They are invulnerable to attack but you can kill them indirectly by using your long shot to pull Morpha out of the tentacle and slash it until it dies. As Morpha goes, so go the tentacles.

Instructions

  Enter the boss battle room in the Water Temple and leap on to one of the four pillars in the pool of water. After a short cut scene, Morpha will make its appearance. Equip your long shot before the battle begins.

  Avoid jumping in the water as this will make you vulnerable to Morpha's attacks. Avoid the amoeba as it jumps around in the water. When it forms a tentacle, you can attack.

  Hold "Z" to open the targeting system. Aim your cross hairs at Morpha and fire by pressing "B." Your long shot will fire a hook on a chain. If you hit Morpha it will be pulled out of the tentacle to land right in front of you.

  Release "Z" when Morpha hits the ground in front of you and rapidly press "B" to attack with your sword. You'll have to act fast as you'll only have time for a single sword slash before Morpha jumps away.

  Continue this tactic while avoiding contact with the water or the tentacles and you'll defeat Morpha -- and by extension the tentacles -- in no time.

  Collect the heart to increase your life and step on to the blue portal to leave the Water Temple.
