Instructions
Stop at the bottom of the stairs. Watch the spike traps move to get a feel for the rhythm. If you are hit by one, you will take damage and fall back to the bottom. The stairs are slippery, making them difficult to climb and impossible to climb quickly.
Avoid going up the middle of the stairs. You have better traction in the middle, but the spike traps are much more likely to hit you. Go up the far left or right side instead.
Start going up the stairs once the closest spike trap rebounds off the wall nearest you and heads to the other side. You have to continually move forward or you will slide backward. Don't let go of the forward button, and don't jump; this will also make you slide back to the bottom.
Continue up the right or left side. If you think you may run into a spike trap as you progress upward, release the forward button briefly, allowing Link to slide backward slightly. Resume going forward once the spike trap moves away.
Try again if you are struck and fall to the bottom. The most important element to success is getting a feel for the timing of the spike traps as they move across the stairs. Always time your ascent according to their movements.
