How to Get a Resident to Leave Your Town in Animal Crossing

As soon as you begin "Animal Crossing" on the GameCube, you will have six animal neighbors. Make your town appealing -- by planting flowers and trees and cleaning up litter -- and up to 15 residents will move in. However, you cannot control which animals will move into your town. If you do not like one of the residents in the town, or you want to open up space for a preferred animal to potentially move in, you will need to coerce a resident to leave your town.

Instructions

    • 1

Be rude to your neighbor. Target whichever resident(s) you want to leave town. Speak to the neighbor at least three times in a row each day. Eventually, she will become irritated and ask you to leave her alone. Continue to speak to her.

    • 2

Refuse to help your neighbor. When she asks for a favor, flat-out refuse.

    • 3

Push your neighbor down a pitfall. When you collect a pitfall item -- a white ball with an exclamation point -- you can create pitfalls in town. Use the shovel to dig a hole near the targeted resident's house. Take the pitfall item out of your pocket, and confirm that you want to put it in the hole. Use the shovel to cover up the hole. Walk into your neighbor, and push her into the hole. You can also watch her walk into it on her own, if it is close enough to her daily walking path.

    • 4

Tell the neighbor "good bye." If the neighbor is unhappy enough, she will consider moving. She may offer you one last chance to get her to stay. If she speaks to you and says she is moving, select "Good bye" as your response. She will leave the next day and send you a letter that says farewell.
