How to Defeat Launch Octopus

The developer Capcom released "Mega Man X" for the Super Nintendo in 1994. The game has since been re-released on the Wii and PlayStation Portable. The game is non-linear, presenting eight different levels that the player can play in any order, each with a different boss at the end. You fight Launch Octopus underwater at the end of the aquatic level and he employs a variety of attacks against you. When you defeat Launch Octopus, you gain the "Homing Torpedoes" weapon.

  Use the "Boomerang Cutter" weapon as soon as the fight begins to cut off two of Launch Octopus's arms, severely limiting his attacks.

  Use the "Rolling Shield" weapon if you have beaten the Armored Armadillo level prior to fighting Launch Octopus. Rolling Shield is Launch Octopus's weakness and removes almost a quarter of his energy bar with each hit. If you do not have Rolling Shield, use your standard blaster against him.

  Dash under Launch Octopus when he jumps over you. If he comes into contact with you, you'll lose a small amount of health.

  Shoot the torpedoes Launch Octopus fires at you. The torpedoes take one shot from your blaster for each one, and Launch Octopus shoots the torpedoes in groups of three.

  Continue to destroy or avoid Launch Octopus's attacks, shooting him with your blaster whenever possible. Launch Octopus is defeated when his life bar, located on the right side of the screen, is depleted.
