How to Run MAME for Windows

MAME is a Windows application that emulates an arcade machine so you can play image copies of arcade games. The MAME website offers several games that you can legally download. However, you cannot play these games unless you download a copy of MAME from the official website and place the games in the "roms" folder. Run MAME to play any of the games that you copied in that folder.

Instructions

      Download MAME from the official site (mamedev.org/roms). Click the link that leads to the Windows command-line binaries rather than the source code to download the installer. Save the installer in a separate folder.

      Go to the folder you just made and double-click the MAME installer that you just downloaded. Click "Extract" to extract all of the necessary files and executables for running MAME.

      Double-click "mame" or "mame.exe" to run MAME.
