Zelda: Ocarina of Time Walkthrough: What to Do After the Forest Temple?

Learn the "Prelude of Light"

• Return to the "Temple of Time" in Hyrule. This is where Link was sealed away for seven years after removing the "Master Sword" and releasing the first of six trapped sages. When you arrive, you will encounter the mysterious character Sheik, who then teaches you the "Prelude of Light," a song you may play with your ocarina to instantly return to the "Temple of Time." Sheik will also reveal to you that you can go back seven years into the past any time that you put the sword back on its pedestal.

Complete the Mini Dungeon in Kakariko Village

• Transform back into younger Link, and head to Kakariko Village. When you arrive, head inside the windmill and play the "Song of Storms," which you learned earlier in the game, to drain the water from the village well. Enter the well and traverse through the enemy-infested dungeon. As you go through the dungeon, you will receive the "Lens of Truth," which allows you to see invisible objects and through fake walls. You can also kill three more of the 100 golden, spider-like "Skulltulas" if you wish to take on that game-long side-quest.

Get the Final Bottle

• As adult Link, go to Hyrule and enter what used to be the guard shack. The man inside will give you a card and tell you to bring him souls from the "Big Poes." Return to Hyrule Field and call your horse, Epona, by playing her song. If you do not yet have her, you must win her at the ranch at the center of Hyrule Field. Empty the three bottles already in your possession. While riding Epona, shoot the "Big Poes" with your bow. When they die, get off of Epona and put a soul in each of your bottles. Give the man at the shack all 10 souls, and he will give you the fourth and final bottle.

Prepare for the Fire Temple

• With your new ocarina songs and hookshot, which you received in the "Forest Temple," explore the dark land of Hyrule as adult Link. You will find treasures, a bigger quiver, heart pieces and many more handy items for your quest. Go to Goron Village and place a bomb in the path of the quick, rolling Goron. This stops him and he will talk to you. Listen to his story and he will give you a free "Goron Tunic." Enter Death Mountain Crater, which is accessible from Darunia's room. You will encounter Sheik again, who teaches you the "Bolero of Fire" before you enter the temple.
