How to Get Through the Gate on Sonic the Hedgehog

The original "Sonic the Hedgehog," released for the Sega Genesis, featured platforming segments that required timed and accurate jumps. The later stages in the 2-D video game included puzzles that the player had to solve before Sonic could advance. In one particular stage, Sonic has to open a gate that is restricting him from reaching the end. By finding a particular switch, the player will open the gate.

Instructions

  Access the Scrap Brain Zone's first stage. This Zone is the final set of stages in the game, played after the three stages in the Star Light Zone. At the beginning of Stage 1, jump over the two platforms that drop once Sonic the Hedgehog approaches.

  Advance through the stage by running forward through obstacles. Jump on one of the moving circular platforms that holds Sonic up. Jump from the platform onto the flat surface and advance to the closed room. There is a gate above Sonic that is closed, prohibiting him from moving forward.

  Locate the switch on the floor on the right side of the room. Jump on it to open the gate. Jump on the two red platforms above Sonic. Once on the second platform, hop over the opened gate onto the floor. After a few seconds, the gate closes, so be sure to jump immediately after pressing the switch.
