How to Get SNES Games to Work on a Retro Duo

The Retro Duo gaming console allows gamers to play both original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and Super Nintendo titles, also referred to as SNES. The console uses cloned technology of the original systems to run the games directly from the hardware, and not through emulation. Unlike many other clone consoles, the Retro Duo is compatible with almost every NES and Super Nintendo title and peripheral, including the Game Genie and Super Game Boy. The console is set up with dual inserts, a back insert for NES cartridges and a wider front insert for Super Nintendo cartridges.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the Retro Duo console to your television via traditional yellow, red and white composite cables or an S-video cable. The S-video mode only works with Super Nintendo games.

    • 2

Plug the console's power cord into the back of the console. Connect the other end to a power outlet.

    • 3

Insert the Super Nintendo game cartridge into the front slot and connect the controller to the system. You can use either the controller provided with the system, or original Super Nintendo controllers.

    • 4

Flip the "on" switch down. The switch is located on the top of the console in front of the cartridge insert. The down position starts the 16-bit Super Nintendo cartridge, while the up position starts the 8-bit NES cartridge. The game will start immediately.
