How to Set Up Your GP2X Wiz

The GP2X Wiz is a handheld gaming unit that is unique because it doesn't play game cartridges or discs. Rather, it plays emulators downloaded from the Internet on your computer. An emulator is free software and there are thousands of game emulators available online. Once you have decided what game you want to play, you can download the emulator and be playing in no time.

Insert the SD card into the expansion slot on your computer. If your particular model computer doesn't have a memory card slot, you can purchase one from a computer-supply store that will plug directly into a free USB port on your computer.

    • 2

Open the Internet browser on your computer and navigate to a page offering emulator downloads for the GP2XS (see Resources).

    • 3

Click the "Download" tab to download the game emulator you would like to use. The software will then download to your computer's desktop.

    • 4

Click on the emulator icon to unzip the software. Then drag the unzipped software icon to the SD card icon on your computer's desktop. The software will copy to the card.

    • 5

Remove the card from the computer and insert it into the card slot on the top of the GP2X.

    • 6

Use the keypad on the unit to scroll to the card and press any of the action buttons to open the contents of the card.

    • 7

Scroll to the emulator software and select it. It will then launch on the handheld and you can play the game.
