How to Get the Defensive Power-Up in Zelda: Ocarina of Time

With powerful enemies around every corner, increasing your defensive capabilities should be a major priority in "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time." Once you've gained access to Ganon's Castle, you can do just that. A quick trip through the castle's Shadow Trials will yield the Golden Gauntlets, which enable Link to lift heavy items. With the Golden Gauntlets equipped, you can find the Great Fairy of Courage, who will grant you the Double Defense power-up.

Instructions

- 1
  Go down the stairs and enter the door to reach the main room of the castle. Locate the door with the purple mark above it, then enter. Use the Longshot on the chest to receive a Blue Rupee. Shoot a Fire Arrow into the torch to light the room. Proceed across the bridge and continue to the platform with the Like Like. Relight the torch if necessary and jump to the next platform.

  Go to the right side of the platform and climb down the set of platforms here. Step on the switch. This will cause a treasure chest to appear. Use your Longshot to reach the chest if the platforms disappear. Open the chest to receive the Golden Gauntlets.

  Equip the Lens of Truth and make your way across the bridge. Use the hammer to activate the rusty switch and open the nearby door. Go across the other bridge and past the door to find the power source. Shoot a Light Arrow into the orange area to disable it. You will reappear in the main room.

  Exit Ganon's Castle, then cross the bridge. Take a left and follow the path to reach a large, black stone. Stand at the base of the stone and press "A" to remove it. Enter to find the Great Fairy of Courage. Use the Lullaby to awaken her and receive the Double Defense power-up.
