What Were the Sage's Powers in Zelda: Ocarina of Time?

Rauru, Sage of Light

• Rauru is the first sage to reveal himself to you during your quest. Rauru represents the last of the Ancient Sages, who built the Temple of Time. Rauru is the Sage of Light and as such has dominion over light-based magic. Rauru is restricted to staying within the Chamber of Sages; however, he lends his light magic to Link at the end of the game.

Saria, Sage of the Forest

• Saria is Link's childhood friend and one of the Kokiri people that live in Kokiri Forest. When Link returns to the Forest Temple as an adult, he meets Saria again who has become the Sage of the Forest. Saria has the magical abilities of plants and trees.

Darunia, Sage of Fire

• Darunia is the leader of the Goron people that live within the caves of Death Mountain. When Link saves Darunia from the monster Volvagia, Darunia is reveled to be the Sage of Fire, with the magical abilities of fire and lava.

Princess Ruto, Sage of Water

• Princess Ruto is the daughter of King Zora, the ruler of the Zora people that live in the underwater world of Zora's Domain. Princess Ruto becomes the Sage of Water after Link defeats the boss of the Water Temple. Princess Ruto has powers related to water and ice.

Impa, Sage of Shadow

• Impa is one of the last of the Sheikah people and Princess Zelda's personal bodyguard. When the monster Bongo Bongo reawakens, Impa heads into the Shadow Temple to stop it; however, Link is the one to do so. After the battle, Impa becomes the Sage of Shadow and is given domain over shadow magic.

Nabooru, Sage of Spirit

• Nabooru is the second-in-command of the Gerudo people, a group of female thieves. When Link arrives in the Spirit Temple he is attacked by Nabooru, who was brainwashed by the witches Koume and Kotake. After defeating the witches, Nabooru becomes the Sage of Spirit with control over spirit magic.

Princess Zelda, Leader of the Sages

• Princess Zelda is revealed to be the final Sage and the leader of the Sages at the end of the game. Although her magic does not fall under an elemental archetype, she is the bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom, a powerful magical talisman, which allows her to use light-based magic.
