How to Get Gyarados in Pokemon Snap

In "Pokemon Snap" for the Nintendo 64 and Virtual Console, players capture Pokemon on film instead of through battles. Many of the Pokemon found in "Pokemon Snap" roam in plain sight, allowing players the opportunity to get their pictures. Others, such as Gyarados, exist only in a specific place. In order to capture pictures of these Pokemon, the player must perform a particular set of actions. To snap Gyarados, you'll need to force the Magikarp in the Valley level to evolve.

Instructions

    • 1

Load the Valley level, course number six.

    • 2

Throw Pester Balls at the Magikarp jumping out of the water at the very start of the level. If you succeed, you'll see the Magikarp jump toward a Mankey, who will knock it into the distance. If you miss the Magikarp, restart the level and try again.

    • 3

Proceed through the level until you reach the area with a set of three Gravelers. You'll spot the Magikarp nearby. Hit it with Pester Balls again to force it to flee into the waterfall, where it will evolve into Gyarados.

    • 4

Throw an item at the Gyarados to make him perform a special attack.

    • 5

Snap a picture of the performing Gyarados quickly before he leaves the screen.

    • 6

Proceed through and finish the rest of the level in order to save your capture.
