How to Defeat the Dark Link in Ocarina

In "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" for the Nintendo 64 (also downloadable for the Virtual Console on the Wii) you will explore a series of dungeons as Link, as he seeks to rescue the kidnapped Princess Zelda. In the Water Temple you will encounter Dark Link, a shadowy doppleganger who mimics most of your moves. Defeating this foe is tricky, as he responds to a sword thrust by jumping on your sword and attacking you. You must use be smart to beat Dark Link.

     Hold down the "Z" button to target Dark Link. This will keep him squarely in your focus no matter where he moves.

     Hold your shield up to thwart Dark Link's attacks.

     Walk slowly toward Dark Link. He will back up to keep space between you. Eventually, you will back him into a corner where he will keep doing back flips. This opens him up for attack.

   • 4

     Use a weapon such as the Megaton Hammer or Biggoron's Sword to dispatch this foe while he's trapped in the corner.
