How to Enable the Subtitles for a Shenmue Dreamcast ROM

"Shenmue" was released in 1999 for Dreamcast. It is an adventure game in which you play Ryo Hazuki, who is searching for information about the murder of his father. "Shenmue" was originally released in Japan; an English version was also produced. There are different game options to allow subtitles or add cinematic qualities to the game while playing. Subtitle options can be a found from the main menu.

  Load "Shenmue" and select "Options" from the main menu.

  Choose "Dialog and Text" to bring up subtitle options.

  Pick either: Cinema Mode, which does not allow you to skip portions of the game and has no text; Game Mod, which has voices and subtitles; Shenmue Mode, which only has voices but you can skip through dialog and see subtitles or Text Mode, which has subtitles only.

  Exit the "Options" menu. The subtitles will appear while you play.
