How to Mow Grass in Harvest Moon for SNES

In "Harvest Moon" for the SNES, buying fodder for your cows can get quite expensive. Cow Feed, which costs 1,000G, will feed one cow for only 12 days. At the beginning of the game, you probably won't be able to afford this. Instead of buying Cow Feed, you should grow grass to create fodder for your cows. A bag of Pasture Grass costs only 500G. Unlike other crops, grass will grow back after you cut it, except in the winter.

Instructions

    • 1

Leave your farm and travel to the Town. Look for the Flower Shop, where you can purchase Crop Seeds. Buy a few bags of Pasture Grass Seeds from the shopkeeper. Two bags of seeds will amount to 1,000G, which is how much Cow Feed costs.

Retrieve the hoe from the shed and equip it. Use the hoe to create a plot with three rows and three columns, creating a 3x3 pattern with a total of nine squares. Make sure you create the pattern in an area that you will only use for grass. Once you plant the grass, it will not go away without the help of summer hurricanes.

    • 3

Stand in the middle square of the 3x3 pattern. You should be completely surrounded by eight squares. Equip your bag of grass and plant it. Every square, including the one you are standing on, will have grass seed.

    • 4

Water the 3x3 plot for nine days. By the ninth day, the grass will be fully grown and ready for you to cut. In the spring and summer, the grass will have a rich green color. During the fall, the grass will be dark gold.

Go to the tool shed and fetch your sickle. Equip the sickle and use the tool to cut each square of grass. The cut grass will go to your Livestock Barn as fodder. Continue watering the grass. It will regrow every nine days, except during the winter.
