How to Save Pokemon on an Emulator

If you own the Pokémon game cartridge you can play the same Pokémon game ROM on your computer with a Nintendo Gameboy, Gameboy Advance or DS emulator. Three commonly used emulators for Pokémon are Visual Boy Advance, No Cash GBA and DeSmuME. Saving your game on the emulator is important so you don't have to start over from the beginning each time. Luckily, in-game saves are available on each emulator as are save states.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the Pokémon game in your Gameboy Advance or Nintendo DS emulator of choice.

    • 2

Select "Save" from the in-game Pokémon menu and select which slot you want to save your game in. Click "Yes."

    • 3

Select "File" and choose "Save State," "Write State" or "Snap Shot." This will create a save state of your game. Name the save state and click "OK."

    • 4

Select "File" and "Load State" or "Load Snap Shot" to open the save state of your game.
