How to Defeat Birdo in Mario Bros. 2

The classic game "Super Mario Bros. 2" lets you take control of Mario, Luigi, Toad or Princess Peach to traverse various themed worlds, from desert to ice to sky. This title, first released on the Nintendo Entertainment System, is available for the Nintendo Wii on the Virtual Console download service. One foe you will encounter several times in the game is Birdo, an odd-looking creature with a large snout that shoots projectiles at you. This "boss" of several levels is relatively easy to defeat.

     Watch for Birdo's snout to enlarge slightly. This means it is about to shoot out a projectile--either a fireball or an egg.

     Dodge the fireballs that Birdo shoots out of its snout.

   • 3

     Jump on the eggs that come out of the snout, and press "B" on the NES controller or "2" on the Wii remote to grab the egg.

   • 4

     Run toward Birdo and throw the egg back at it with the "B" or "2" button to hit your foe. Do this three times to defeat Birdo.
