How to Get Mario to Run Fast

"Super Mario Bros.," released for the NES in 1985, was Nintendo's first major success. Players will take on the role of Mario, as they attempt to stop the evil Bowser in his plans to rule the Mushroom Kingdom. Even though the NES only has a few buttons, new players or those not used to video games may be unsure of some of the basic controls, such as making Mario run. Running is an essential part of Mario's move set, and knowing how to do so will help you win the game.

     Press the directional pad, on your NES controller, left or right to make Mario walk in that direction.

     Press and hold the "B" button on your NES controller while Mario is walking to make him run.

     Press the "A" button while Mario is running to perform a running jump. This jump will be used often in the last few levels of the game to clear some long gaps.

     Release the "B" button to make Mario stop running.
