Work your way through the Water Temple and eventually you will come to a large room with a tree in the center of it. Standing under the tree is "Dark Link." As "Dark Link" is the mirror-version of your character, it can be hard to land a blow on him but persist by equipping the Master Sword from the equipment sub-menu and rapidly swinging it at him to land the occasional strike while Z-targeting. Also, use magic powers, such as Din's Fire, as he has no defense against it. Persist and eventually you will defeat him.
Navigate any of the game's dungeons and you will encounter Lizalfos and Dinolfos, lizard and dinosaur-like soldiers. Dinolfos have small daggers and can breathe fire while Lizalfos have just a sword but come in twos. To defeat either of these similar foes, defend their attacks with your shield, then attack when their defenses are down following an attack on you. Jump-attacks will deal twice as much damage and, if you Z-target them while moving around, you will be able to attack them from behind where they have no armor.
Defeat Iron Knuckles by keeping on your toes. Iron Knuckles are among the hardest mini-bosses because they have thick armor, their attacks cannot be blocked and they deal four hearts of damage with each hit of their huge axes. Z-target the Iron Knuckle and allow yourself to get close enough so that he stops moving and prepares to make an attack. Do a backward or sideways flip to avoid his axe, then attack him while he attempts to get his sword dislodged out of the ground. Repeat this process until you destroy his armor. Now that he is lighter, he will move faster and attack more, so repeat the process to defeat him; be aware that he is more mobile and takes less time to retrieve his sword from the ground.
Enter the Shadow Temple or Bottom of the Well in Kakariko Village and you will eventually encounter a room with a circle of hands reaching up through the ground. As you enter the circle a chubby figure will emerge from the ground and will attempt to bite you once you have been caught by one of the arms. This is the Dead Hand mini-boss. To defeat it, you must coax the body out of the ground by being held by one of the arms so allow them to grab you, then bash the attack button to escape before the body reaches you. Then, repeatedly slash the body with your sword and repeat the process to finish this mini-boss.
