How to Kill Navi

In "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time," Navi the fairy accompanies the boy hero Link as he makes his way about the land of Hyrule. The character's frequent use of phrases such as, "Hey, listen!" often earned negative comments from gaming web sites like IGN. While players cannot kill Navi, they can temporarily relieve themselves of her presence through the use of glitches. Otherwise, players can turn down the game volume to avoid hearing her voice.

Instructions

Make Navi Disappear in the Temple of Time

  Enter the Temple of Time in the Hyrule Town Market as an adult. Travel to the pedestal near the back of the first room, where the three Spiritual Stones Link earned as a child hover.

  Read the inscription on the pedestal and pull out the Ocarina of Time. Play "Saria's Song" to initiate conversation with Navi.

  Select "No" when Navi asks if you would like to speak to Saria. Navi will now be stuck in the position where you first spoke to her, and she will not speak to you again. You can now travel through the Temple of Time without disturbance. When you leave that building, Navi will return to her normal behavior.
Crooked Cartridge Affects Navi Glitch

  Take Navi to any location where you wish to trap her. Play "Saria's Song" on the Ocarina of Time again to get Navi to speak to you. Place the cursor over the "Yes" option.

  Pull the left side of the game cartridge up from the system until you begin to see changes in appearance. For example, Link may fade in and out of visibility. Push the left side of the cartridge fully into the system again and press "A" on your controller. If the game freezes, restart and attempt Steps 1 and 2 again.

  Watch the message that appears. The message will appear glitched. Wait until the blue icon box appears at the end of the dialog box. Press the "A" button on your controller again. Navi will be frozen in that location until you leave the area.
