How to Get to Mushroom Hill Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Mushroom Hill Zone is the seventh zone you will encounter as you play through the game "Sonic 3 and Knuckles." Accessing this zone is not a simple matter of progressing through the levels that precede it, as you must have your system set up in a specific way to add it to your game. Once your cartridge is set up properly, the zone will be placed into the natural storyline of the game.

Instructions

      Place your "Sonic 3" cartridge in the Sega Genesis system.

      Insert the "Sonic and Knuckles" cartridge into the top of the "Sonic 3" cartridge. This technology, known as Lock-On, allows for characters and levels to cross between the two games.

      Turn on your Sega Genesis. You will see a new title screen for the game, "Sonic 3 and Knuckles."

      Play through the game until you reach the seventh level, which is Mushroom Hill Zone.
