How to Use a Star Punch in Punch Out for the NES

"Mike Tyson's Punch-Out," released in 1987 for NES, features a move known as the Star Punch due to its ability to be activated once a player has one or more stars in the game. Players acquire stars by successfully landing punches on their opponent. The Star Punch acts as a powerful uppercut as opposed to a typical blow used in pressing the other buttons. Players can get up to three stars at a time.

     Punch the other player using "A" and "B" for left and right body blows. Use the directional pad to dodge punches and maintain any stars.

     Press "Up" plus "A" for right face punches and "Up" plus "B" for left face punches. Land punches to gain the stars.

     Press the "Start" button after gaining stars to activate the Star Punch.
