N64 Games for Kids

The Nintendo 64 was the third major home console released by Nintendo. As the follow up to the Super Nintendo, the N64 was built around a reputation for great game selection, which included those that were suitable for children, as well as more adult games. This ensured that gamers of all ages could find ample choices for the system.
  1. Mario Games

    • Arguably the most famous video game character of all time, Mario and his friends have been a hit with kids since the original NES system made its way into homes. For the N64, Super Mario 64 is the quintessential Mario game for kids to enjoy. The Mario Party series of games are fun for kids to play together with a group of friends. Also, the Mario Kart 64 racing game is a good choice for kids.

    Pokemon

    • The Pokemon craze swept up children around the world during the height of the Nintendo 64's popularity. As a result, there are several games for the system that feature characters from the Pokemon world. The system saw "Pokemon Stadium" along with a sequel, and then a puzzle game, shooting game and the first game based on the characters for the system "Hey You, Pikachu!"

    Licenced Games

    • Along with Pokemon, many other games for the N64 system were based on popular children's cartoons, TV shows, comic books or other beloved characters. These games are all suitable for children as they allow them to step into worlds that they already know and love. Games of this type include two "Rugrats" games, "Tom &Jerry in Fists of Furry," the "Toy Story 2" game and the "Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue" game.

    Racing and Sports

    • Most racing and sports games are suitable for kids, as they don't contain the violent elements present in some action, role-playing or fighting games. While some sports games, such as the "Madden" series, might be too complex for kids, games like "1080 Snowboarding" or the "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater" game should provide solid entertainment value for children. For racing games, picks range from the cartoon-like games such as "Diddy Kong Racing" to more realistic racers such as "Nascar 99" and the sequel.
