How to Get Knuckles on Sonic 3

"Sonic and Knuckles" was released for the Sega Genesis in 1994. In addition to being a complete game, "Sonic and Knuckles" has a special feature that set it apart from other games: Previous "Sonic the Hedgehog" games can be inserted into the "Sonic and Knuckles" cartridge, allowing Knuckles to be played in past games, such as "Sonic the Hedgehog 3." A copy of both games is required to access Knuckles in "Sonic the Hedgehog 3."

Instructions

  Open the top of the "Sonic &Knuckles" cartridge to reveal a cartridge slot.

  Insert the "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" cartridge into the "Sonic and Knuckles" cartridge slot.

  Insert the "Sonic and Knuckles" cartridge into the Sega Genesis cartridge slot.

  Turn on the Sega Genesis. "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" will load, but it is now called "Sonic 3 &Knuckles."

  Select "1 Player."

  Use the directional pad to select Knuckles as your character.
- 7
  Press "Start" to begin the game as Knuckles.
