How to Open a NES Cartridge

The original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) used game cartridges, unlike modern game consoles which use CD-ROM discs. Because dust can gather inside the NES cartridges, you may need to open the cartridge to clean them from time to time, to keep them operating efficiently. Nintendo used security screws to hold NES cartridges together. You can remove the screws with a specialty tool available from several online retailers.
