Fun Things to Do Before the Spirit Temple in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

The Spirit Temple is the final temple you must visit in "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" before you can beat the game. It is also the only temple that requires you to use both young Link and adult Link to solve. Before taking the Spirit Temple on, though, the game features many side quests that you should complete before heading into the final stages of the game.
  1. Biggeron's Sword

    • Biggeron is a gigantic Goron living on top of Death Mountain. If you speak with him, he'll offer to make you a special sword for a price. Although this giant two-handed sword is much stronger than the Master sword, it will break after only a few swings. To get a resilient sword that won't break, you will have to deliver a set of special items all across Hyrule. When you have the option, deliver a special eyedrop formula to Biggeron himself, and he'll make you a special sword as payment. The added reach and power will not only make the Spirit temple more manageable, but it will make the final boss easier as well.

    Masks

    • As young Link, you can collect a series of masks to wear around the different towns. Speaking with some of the characters in the game while wearing a mask will prompt different reactions from them. Many characters are willing to trade useful items or rupees for your mask, while others will respond in interesting, often funny, ways. Some masks, like the bunny hood, will even have effects on enemies and prevent them from attacking you. The items you receive are of use on your journey, but the different reactions from characters makes this quest worthwhile on its own.

    Heart Pieces

    • Throughout the game are hidden items called heart pieces. For every four heart pieces you collect, you will be given a greater total of health. The more health you have, the easier the game becomes. You can find heart pieces in dungeons, on Hyrule field, in towns and sometimes even in shops. The Spirit Temple, like other temples, is filled with puzzles and challenges; however, unlike other temples, it houses a lot more enemies. Going back through some of the previously visited areas and collecting heart pieces will compensate for the Spirit Temple's difficulty.

    Gold Skultulas

    • In Kakariko Village, you'll find a cursed family who have been turned into spiders. If you go throughout the game and kill 100 gold skulltulas, you can cure the family members one by one. Each family member, when cured, will give you a reward, and when you've slain all 100 skulltulas, the curse will be lifted. Gold skulltulas are large golden spiders with an abdomen that looks like a skull; they are found just about anywhere hanging on a wall, and you can tell one is near by a distinctive scratching noise.
