How to Get to Bowser in the Fire Sea

Super Mario 64, a perennial favorite for Nintendo fans and a best seller for the Nintendo 64 in 1996, was re-released on the Wii virtual console and as a special edition for the Nintendo DS. Its lasting popularity has much to do with the game's many secrets---fans hoping to complete the game with a perfect star record search relentlessly through Princess Peach's castle and beyond. One such level, Boswer in the Fire Sea, takes only a few steps to find.

Instructions

  Unlock the castle basement door by defeating Bowser in the Dark World and obtain at least 30 stars.

  Enter the wooden door on the right side of the staircase in the main hall in Peach's castle. Head down the stairs on your left to the locked door. This will unlock with the key you won from defeating Bowser in the Dark World. Through the locked door, there will be a star door on your left which will lead to the Dire, Dire Docks portal.

  Obtain the first star from Dire, Dire Docks ("Board Bowser's Sub"). When you are dropped back into the hallway, there will be an open entrance in the floor in front of the portal.

  Jump onto the floor entrance and you will be dropped into the "Bowser in the Fire Sea" level.
