How to Hook an Atari to a TV

So you found an old Atari somewhere in the attic, but you can't figure out how to hook it up to the TV? Unless you're rocking a wood-grained console television in your living room, you will need an adapter to make this vintage piece of gaming history work on a modern television. That's the bad news. The good news is that the part will only set you back a few bucks. "Missile Command" awaits you!

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Attach the "U" shaped screw lugs from the Atari switchbox to the 300-ohm to 75-ohm adapter. The Atari originally was attached to two screws at the rear of a television. Since these screws are no longer present on modern television sets, the adapter is needed.

    • 2

Attach the adapter to the coaxial cable input at the rear of your television. This is the same way you would hook up an old NES console or Sega console.

    • 3

Turn the switch on the switchbox to "Game." You are now ready to play classic Atari games on your modern television.
