How to Get Mewtwo in Pokemon Stadium for Nintendo 64

"Pokemon Stadium," a game from the popular "Pokemon" franchise, is for the Nintendo 64. Making use of the console's capabilities, the game allowed Pokemon to battle in three-dimensional graphics. The most powerful Pokemon in the game is, according to Pokemon canon, an artificially created Pokemon called Mewtwo. In order to even see Mewtwo in the battle arena, some steps have to be taken, with even more requirements and extra equipment to obtain one.

Instructions

  1. Obtaining Mewtwo through the N64

    • 1

Defeat Pika Cup, Petite Cup, Poke Cup, Prime Cup, and all remaining Cup tournaments in Stadium mode. There are stipulations for each cup regarding status ailments and levels, but following the on screen prompts and working through them will result in clearing each cup, allowing you access to additional Pokemon and extra features.

    • 2

Advance to the Gym Leader Castle and defeat each trainer. Defeat the champion as well. Defeating each cup and leader allows you access to Mewtwo, who is available for a six-on-one battle.

    • 3

Start your match with the Pokemon, Electrode, and five other Pokemon that each know a one-hit K.O. move (like Guillotine). Have Electrode use Thunder Wave, which will paralyze Mewtwo. Send out one of the other Pokemon and use the one-hit K.O. move. If that Pokemon faints, send out another and try again. One Mewtwo is defeated, you can use it in Gym Leader Castle, as well as open up a new game-mode to play.

    Obtaining Mewtwo through the Gameboy

    • 4

Start up your Gameboy with your "Pokemon Red" version, or similar edition, and select Mewtwo (once you obtain it in game). Your Transfer-Pak should be properly inserted into your Gameboy hand-held console.

    • 5

Transfer Mewtwo into the Transfer-Pak and safely shut down your Gameboy system. Unplug the Transfer-Pak from the Gameboy and insert it into the Memory pack slot on the back of the Nintendo 64 controller. Turn on the Nintendo 64 and wait for the title screen of "Pokemon Stadium" to load.

    • 6

Transfer Mewtwo from the selectable Pokemon on your Transfer-Pak into your "Pokemon Stadium" game. If all was done according to the in-game prompts, Mewtwo should now be in your party and available for use. Changing his nickname to "Twomew" or changing the characters (all lower case, replacing consonants, or shortening his name) will change the color of Mewtwo when he is displayed in battle.
