Directions for a Nintendo NES System

The Nintendo Entertainment System was first released in Japan in mid-1983. Nearly 30 years later, many people still enjoy playing games on this classic home video game console. However, before you can enjoy playing original NES video games, you must know how to properly set up the console. Despite how old the NES is, setting it up is very similar to setting up any modern-day console.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug one end of the AC adapter into the back of the console. Plug the other end into the wall.

    • 2

Plug one end of the composite cable into the back of the console. Plug the other end into your television: the red plug goes into the red port, the white plug into the white port and the yellow plug into the yellow port.

    • 3

Plug the controller into the front of the console.

    • 4

Lift the front flap. Slide a game cartridge into the slot with the label facing upward. After the cartridge is all the way inside, gently push the cartridge down, then lower the flap.

    • 5

Press the power button on the console to start the game.
