Level Select
The level select cheat code will let you access any stage quickly and easily. Wait for the "Press Start" screen to appear. Push "B," "A," "Right," "A," "C," "Up," "Down," and "A" on the controller. If done correctly, you will be immediately taken to the main menu screen. Choose the "Start" button. A level select screen should pop up. Choose one and push the start button to begin play on that level.
Skip Levels
You can use the "skip levels" code to bypass any section. Wait for the "Press Start" screen to appear. Push "B," "A," "Right," "A," "C," "Up," "Down," and "A" on the controller twice. To enact a skip at any time, push the "Start" button to pause, then press the "A" button. The game will immediately go to the next available stage.
Chaos Emeralds
The chaos emerald code makes getting these hard to obtain items easy. At the "Press Start" screen, push "B," "A," "Right," "A," "C," "Up," "Down," and "A" on the controller twice. Select a stage that has Tails, the fox, or Knuckles, the echidna. Play the stage and collect 50 golden rings, then visit Tails or Knuckles. You will warp to a bonus stage that you would normally have to beat to get the emerald. Push "A" and "Start" simultaneously and the emerald will be given to you.
Bonus Lives
At the "Press Start" screen, push "B," "A," "Right," "A," "C," "Up," "Down," and "A" on the controller twice. Collect 50 rings and meet Tails or Knuckles to go to the bonus stage. Beat it or use the chaos emerald "A" and "Start" trick to get an emerald. Return to the normal stage and let yourself die. Collect another 50 rings and re-enter the bonus area. Complete it and receive a bonus life. Find 50 more rings and get a second life. Let yourself die. This trick, which can be repeated at will, essentially means you lose one live but gain two.
