N64 Shooting Games

Goldeneye

• Some shooting games star the fictional British secret agent James Bond. For instance, "Goldeneye" is based around the plot and locations of the 1995 Bond film of the same name. A first-person shooter, "Goldeneye" tasks you with stopping a traitorous agent from achieving world domination. You can control a tank as well as fight enemies with many pistols and rifles. The game is notable for its multi-player mode, which enables up to four participants to engage in battles. You can also access specially designed multi-player arenas in this mode.

Other First-Person Shooters

• "Perfect Dark" features similar gameplay to "Goldeneye," but is instead set in the future; it stars the agent Joanna Dark. The levels in this game include Area 51 and Air Force One, and "Perfect Dark" also features a four-person multi-player mode and a training mode. "Turok 2: Seeds Of Evil" is set in the Lost Land, a mythical world filled with dinosaurs and other enemies. You control Joshua Fireseed, a human dinosaur hunter out to defeat an ancient force and protect a set of mystical energy totems. This game also features a multi-player mode.

Star Wars

• The N64 is home to several games based on George Lucas's "Star Wars" franchise. In "Rogue Squadron," a game set during the Rebel Alliance days from the movies, you control Luke Skywalker in several scenarios, including escort and rescue missions. In each, you must pilot a spacecraft in levels that take place over various alien worlds. "Star Wars: Battle For Naboo" is set during the events of the "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace" movie. It's a spacecraft-based shooter that explores the plot behind the main storyline from the film, and you play as a relatively unknown character, Lieutenant Sykes, out to rid the planet Naboo of evil.

Alien Action

• Other shooting games are set on alien worlds. "Jet Force Gemini" was designed by the Rare company, and it features a pair of cute soldiers and their dog. The object of the single-player game is to explore 3D locations in an attempt to rescue alien creatures known as tribals. You can also participate in a death-match multi-player mode or a cooperative two-player mode. The 3D shooter "Body Harvest" places you in the boots of a soldier out to defeat a race of bug-like aliens. Each level takes place at a different point in history, and locations include the U.S. and island of Java. You can fight on foot or commandeer vehicles such as planes and boats to progress, and you must also solve puzzles.
