How to Clean an NES Dust Cover

Most of the old Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) games are worth less than the plastic they're made from, but on occasion you'll stumble across a valuable game -- typically an RPG or a rare game -- that you'll want to protect from the elements. When this happens, an NES dust cover is generally a good investment, though you'll probably want to clean the dust cover itself before you place the game inside.

Things You'll Need

  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Cloth swatch
  • Clean soft cloth
  • Small rod or dowel

Instructions

    • 1

Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol to your cloth swatch.

    • 2

Shove the cloth swatch down into the NES dust cover with your rod or dowel.

    • 3

Wipe the entire inside of the dust cover down with the cloth swatch, then remove the swatch. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the swatches start coming up free of dirt.

    • 4

Use your soft cloth to dry up any excess alcohol from inside your dust cover.
