Instructions for Donkey Kong 64 for Nintendo 64

All Characters

  Press the control stick to move the character. You can move in any direction by pressing the control stick in that direction.

  Press "A" to jump. Press and hold it to jump higher. When climbing, press "A" to release your grip. Press "B" to use attacks such as punching or weapons. Press "Z" to crouch. You can move while crouching. Press "Z" and then "A" to back flip. Press "B" while jumping or running to perform a special attack.

  Press the "Top C" button to zoom in and look at the level through the character's eyes. Press the "Bottom C" button to switch between the two zoom distances in third-person view. Press "Left C" and "Right C" to rotate the camera left and right, respectively. Press "R" to return the camera to a position behind the character.

  Press "Start" to pause the game and view the status screen. The "L" button and directional pad do not have uses.

  Press "B" when swimming to move faster. Press "Z" to dive underwater. Press "B" while underwater to drift slowly, or press "B" while holding "A" to swim faster. Press "Z" while swimming to brake.

Specific Characters

  Select Donkey Kong. Stand on a DK Pad and press "Z" to perform the "Baboon Blast." Press "B" while standing next to a level to do the "Gorilla Grab." Jump into a DK barrel and press and hold "Z" to use the "Strong Kong" move and become invincible. Move around with the control stick.

  Select Diddy Kong. Hold "Z" and press "B" to perform the Chimpy Charge. Jump inside a Diddy Barrel, press and hold "Z" to use the Rocketbarrel Boost and shoot out with jet packs. Press "Z" to hover and "A" to boost up. Stand on a Diddy Pad and press "Z" to do a Simian Spring.

  Select Tiny Kong. Jump inside a Tiny barrel to use the Mini-Monkey move, which makes you even smaller. Press "A" to jump and press "A" again and hold it to use the Ponytail Twirl move. Stand on a Tiny Pad and press "Z" to use the Monkeyport move.

  Select Lanky Kong. Press and hold "Z" and then press "B" to use the OrangStand move. Hold "Z" and use the control stick to move. Stand on a Lanky Pad and press "Z" to use the Baboon Balloon move which allows you to float. Jump in a Lanky barrel and press and hold "Z" and then "B" to use the OrangSprint, a faster version of the OrangStand move.

  Select Chunky Kong. Jump into a Chunky barrel to use the Hunky Chunky move and Chunky Kong will grow in size and become stronger. Press and hold "Z" and then press "B" to use the Primate Punch. Stand on a Chunky Pad and press "Z" to use Gorilla Gone, which turns Chunky invisible.
