How to Hook Up a Super Nintendo to a TV

The Super Nintendo System Entertainment System (or Super NES) was the second home video-game console released by Nintendo from 1990 through 1993. The video game console offered 16-bit graphics and was the best selling home console of the 16-bit graphics consoles. The Super Nintendo was discontinued in late 1993 when Nintendo released the Nintendo 64 home video-game console that offered state of the art graphics and sound technology. The Super Nintendo is relatively easy to hook up to any television set.

Instructions

    • 1

Store the Super Nintendo console so that it's out of harm's way (you want to find a location that's difficult for the console to be easily stepped on) and then take the Super Nintendo's power cord and plug the female end into the back of the console and the male end into a surge protector that's plugged into a power outlet.

    • 2

Plug the coaxial cable or composite connector into the back of the Super Nintendo Console. The composite cable (or RCA cable) is the best connector to use on the newer digital cable televisions because it will produce the best video quality transfer. The composite connector uses red, yellow and white male plugs while the coaxial cable uses a female plug that screws into the round metal male connector located on the back of the television.

    • 3

Plug either the coaxial or composite video cables into the back of the television set.

    • 4

Insert the male ends of the video game controllers into the female ports located on the front of the Super Nintendo console.

    • 5

Slide a Super Nintendo Video game into the top of the unit.

    • 6

Press the "Power" button located on the front of the Super Nintendo and turn on the television.
