How to Repair Your Super Nintendo

The classic Super Nintendo Entertainment System, referred to as the "SNES," is an antiquated system still frequently used by old school video game enthusiasts. Since the system is so old, Nintendo will not repair it. However, since the console was made so well, the only problem you might find with it is easily solved. If you are having issues getting games to work, there are a few quick tricks to try.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the games. This can be done with either compressed air and/or isopropyl alcohol. Use short, controlled bursts of the compressed air and then wipe the contacts with isopropyl alcohol via a cotton swab.

    • 2

Clean the console using the same method that you used for the games. Here it is even more important that you use short, controlled bursts of the compressed air as you could make the situation worse by freezing the electronics.

    • 3

Wait for about five minutes for the devices to dry.

    • 4

Insert the game and turn the power on. You might need to keep turning the power on and off a few times to get it working. Be patient -- if nothing appears on the screen after 30 seconds, turn the power on and off again.
