How to Play Nintendo 64 Games on a PC

The Nintendo 64 console was released in 1995 and played classic games such as "Super Mario 64," "GoldenEye: 007," "Banjo-Kazooie" and "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time." You don't need a Nintendo 64 console to enjoy these classic games today, as many can be downloaded and played on virtually any PC in a few simple steps.

Download and install a Nintendo 64 emulator. An emulator uses your computer's hardware to mimic the software found on the Nintendo 64, acting as a virtual console. A good recommendation is the Project64 emulator, which can be downloaded from the Project64 website.

Download a rom for the game you want to play. A rom is essentially the Nintendo 64 game packed into a file the Nintendo 64 emulator can read and play. Roms are readily available on websites such as EMU Paradise.

Open the emulator and click "File" in the top left corner of the dialogue box then click "Open." Select the specified rom for the game you wish to play and double-click the file. The game should begin playing in the emulator.
