Things You'll Need
Instructions
Clean your Xbox video games and/or DVDs. Remove the disc and turn off the Xbox. Using a dry towel and rubbing alcohol, clean and dry the clear side of the disc. Turn on your Xbox and put the disc back in.
Use a standard DVD/CD cleaner. The cleaner looks like a normal CD, but it has two miniature brushes. Insert this CD into your Xbox and it will clean the lens. This might enable your DVD or CD to play.
Copy and delete game files from your hard drive to free up some space. Start your Xbox console with no disc in the disc tray to bring up the "Xbox Dashboard" menu. Use the directional pad to select "Xbox Hard Disk" option, then press the "A" button. Select the game title you want and select the saved game you want to copy. Choose the "Copy" option then press the "A" button. Press "B" twice to return to the "Xbox Hard Disk" screen. Select the game you just copied, press "A" and select to delete the file. The Xbox will ask, "Are you sure you want to permanently delete this saved game?" (See Reference 1) Select the "Yes" option.
Send your Xbox to Microsoft. Attempting to fix your Xbox by yourself will void your warranty. The Xbox Web site has a page where you can sign in and repair your console. Insert your tag number located on the back of the Xbox, and shipping address to see where you need to send your Xbox.
