List of Taito Super Nintendo Games

Taito is a game publisher and developer that hit it big in the video game industry with the release of its legendary arcade hit "Space Invaders" in 1978. Taito published a number of games for the original Nintendo Entertainment System and continued with the Super Nintendo system. Taito released 14 games for the 16-bit system, including side-scrolling platformers, beat-em-ups and role-playing games.

    • Taito developed and published "Darius Twin" for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991. "Darius Twin" is a side-scrolling shooter based on the game series "Darius" that debuted in arcades in 1986. Players travel through 12 different planets, battling alien ships that resemble marine life, according to All Game Guide. Collecting power-ups dispersed throughout the levels will upgrade lasers, shields and missiles. "Darius Twin" offers both single-player and two-player cooperative play.

    Lufia &The Fortress of Doom

    • Taito developed and published "Lufia &The Fortress of Doom" for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993. "Lufia &The Fortress of Doom" is a third-person 2D role-playing game. Players journey with Lufia and two other friends in an effort to defeat the evil Sinistrals, who have returned 100 years after their defeat by the hero Maxim. "Lufia &The Fortress of Doom features "one of the largest worlds available on the Super NES," according to All Game Guide.

    Sonic Blast Man

    • Taito published the Disco-developed game "Sonic Blast Man" for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992. "Sonic Blast Man" is based on the 1990 arcade game of the same name and is a side-scrolling beat-em-up. Players battle through five stages, facing enemies such as robots, aliens and gang members in order to defeat the final boss, Sonic Blast Man's evil twin, Heavy Blast Man. Players can collect power-ups to unlock special attacks including a spinning jump or dynamite punch. The game offers a first-person perspective bonus round that features more beat-em-up action.

    The Flintstones: The Treasure of Sierra Madrock

    • Taito developed and published "The Flintstones: The Treasure of Sierra Madrock" for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994. "The Flintstones: The Treasure of Sierra Madrock" is a side-scrolling platformer featuring the characters from the Hanna-Barbera cartoon. Players can play as either Fred or Barney and wield a caveman club, battling dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures on a journey to find the Treasure of Sierra Madrock. The game features helpful items along the way, such as stars for extra lives and stops at a cafe where players can eat bronto burgers. At the end of each level, players play a bingo game where they can earn extra lives.
