"Toe Jam and Earl"
"Toe Jam and Earl" featured a unique form of game play where levels randomly generate as players enter them. Further, players do not have to complete a certain number of levels to beat the game. Rather, players must find the 10 pieces of rapping aliens Toe Jam and Earl's spaceship to return to their home planet of Funkotron. This cult classic features a comedic storyline, items and enemies. Two players cooperate to find the pieces of Toe Jam and Earl's spaceship.
Altered Beast
An early entry into the beam 'em up genre of games, Altered Beast allows two players to cooperate in Zeus's ordained quest to rescue Athena. Players move through mythical worlds becoming different lycanthropic avatars depending on the level of the game. The different avatars have different powers from the werewolf's teeth and claws to the weredragon's fire breath and flight to the strength of the golden werewolf.
"Sonic the Hedgehog 2"
"Sonic the Hedgehog 2" expanded upon the original game in two ways that involve multiplayer action. The game introduced the new character Tails. Multiplayer options include having Sonic and Tails cooperate through the levels as they attempt to free animals from the grasp of the nefarious Doctor Robotnik. Alternately, players can compete against each other in a mad dash to acquire the most rings in battle mode.
"Golden Axe"
"Golden Axe" is a side-scrolling beat-'em-up game. "Golden Axe" offers players the opportunity to play as one of three characters: Ax Battler the barbarian, Tyris Flare the Amazon and dwarf warrior Gilius Thunderhead. These characters battle villains ranging from common barbarians to giants and undead skeletons. Players have the chance to hop on the back of various monsters and go for a ride as they cooperate to defeat the evil Death Adder who has brought strife to the formerly peaceful fantasy world of Golden Axe.
