Kids Zombie Games

Zombies have typically been designated for an adult audience because of their grotesque appearance and scary demeanor. While the majority of zombie video games carry a mature rating, there are a number of games that are aimed at a child audience with cartoon graphics or toned-down violence to make the idea of zombies seem a little less scary to younger players.
  1. Zombies Ate my Neighbors

    • Zombies Ate my Neighbors was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993 by Konami. The game is classified as a run and gun, meaning the goal of the game is to run and shoot zombies in over 50 fast-paced levels. The game plays like a top-down arcade game, your goal being to eliminate enemies while exploring the neighborhood searching for neighbors to rescue. You can also find keys which unlock doors which can yield power-up bonuses and new weapons. The game features kid-friendly cartoon graphics, and since the characters use squirt guns, the whole experience remains fairly tame.

    Zombie Apocalypse

    • Zombie Apocalypse was released by Konami as an Xbox Live and PlayStation Network download. The game is classified as a multidirectional shooter, meaning it's a top view shooter. The game allows you to play up to four player co-op, making it a ton of fun for you and your friends to play online or in someone's living room. The game features 55 levels and seven different maps, as well as different game modes after you beat the game initially. There is a fast mode where everything is sped up, a blackout mode which turns out all the streetlights, a chainsaw-only mode, and the seven days of hell mode, which has a minimum of 1500 zombies compared to the usual 100 to 250. All of the different modes are designed to increase the difficulty level, allowing you to play through the game over and over again.

    Plants vs. Zombies

    • Plants vs. Zombies is a game created for the PC and Mac OS by Popcap Games. The game is based around a zombie attack, where your best line of defense lies in your gardening skills. The game is played by planting specific plants, shrubs and fungi in the front yard, back yard and roof to ward off zombies hell bent on consuming your brains. Each plant has its own defensive or offensive capabilities, which can be triggered using seed packs that you acquire throughout the game. You also have special power-ups like lawn mowers which will cut down all the zombies in its path, though these can only be used once per level. Overall, this game has received acclaim from the gaming industry for its innovative game play and excellent soundtrack.
