Harvest Moon Game Cheats

Harvest Moon is a farm simulation game that was originally released for the Super Nintendo in 1996. It was re-released for the Nintendo Wii as a Virtual Console download in 2008. The game requires the player manage time and money to run a successful farm. There are a few instances that allow the player to exploit glitches to cheat. There is also a code that allows players to check what game ending he or she has earned. These glitches and the ending code work on both versions of the game.

Field Clearing Head Start
- At the very beginning of Harvest Moon, it is possible to exploit a glitch that will allow you to clear your field before the game clock starts. This is a useful cheat because time is a tight resource at the start of the game. Go through the introduction of the game until you name your dog. At this point you are supposed to go into the tool shed. Go into your field instead. You can pull all the weeds and remove the various small rocks without the game clock starting. Go into the tool shed when you are done to start the game clock and continue.
No Wild Dog Attacks
- Wild dogs in Harvest Moon are a threat to the chickens on your farm. These dogs can slip into your farm through broken sections of your fence at night and eat any chickens wandering around. An unusual glitch in the game is that wild dogs can only enter your farm through broken sections of fence. This means that wild dogs cannot attack your farm if you do not have a fence. Building a fence actually causes an unnecessary risk because it triggers the wild dog attacks when a section breaks. Not building one allows you to cheat the game and avoid triggering wild dog attacks completely.
Starving Calves
- Calves are the baby form of cows that you receive from livestock dealers. There is no reason in Harvest Moon to ever feed a calf. It has absolutely no effect on the health or happiness of the calf. You can simply allow it to starve with no negative repercussions until it turns into a full-grown cow, which does need to be fed. Exploiting this glitch can save a substantial amount of money that would be wasted feeding calves on your farm.
Ending Code
- Harvest Moon has several different endings that you can get based on your actions in the game. There is a code in the game that can allow you to see the current ending you have earned so far. Hold down the "L" + "R" + "Start" + "Select" buttons when the lights go off at the end of the day. Your current ending sequence will play as long as the buttons are held down. Releasing the buttons will immediately exit from the ending being shown and continue to the next day in the game. This code only displays the ending based on your current progress in the game. You can still be on track for the ending you want, even if it is not displayed using the code.
