How Do I Change My Xbox Format Back?

The Xbox video game console can be modified to play games and use programs that are not sanctioned by Microsoft. Many gamers modify their Xbox using software instead of altering the hardware. Since the warranty is voided by altering the operating system, reverting the Xbox to its original state is necessary if you need to get the console serviced.

  Turn on the Xbox and wait for the Home menu screen to come up. Navigate to "File Manager." Open it by pressing the "X" button.

  Highlight any files with "modded" in its name, select "Delete" and press "X." Select "Yes" to confirm. Return to the Home menu.

  Navigate to "System Preferences," and select "Restore MS backup." Press "X" to start the restoration.

  Return to the Home menu. Navigate to the "Games" folder.

  Select the Xbox softmod gamesave that was loaded onto the hard drive to modify the Xbox. Select "Delete" and press "X." Select "Yes" to confirm.
