How to Play Games on Visual Boy Emulator

The Visual Boy Advance was a niche-appeal console from Nintendo. The semi-handheld console attempted to replicate the then-popular idea of "Virtual Reality" in an affordable, portable manner. Using a glowing red LCD, the console provided pseudo-3D effects for games featuring Nintendo stalwarts, such as Mario and Luigi. Using emulation, you can now see what Virtual Boy play was like on your computer.

Download Red Dragon. There are several emulators available for Virtual Boy, but Red Dragon boasts the highest compatibility and ease of use. Install the emulator to your PC in a folder that will be easy to access. Red Dragon can be downloaded from a link in Resources.

Download ROM files. While Red Dragon simulates the Virtual Boy hardware on your PC, ROM files simulate the cartridge software. A site with a large directory of Virtual Boy ROM files can be found in Resources. Save these to the same directory as the emulator.

Launch Red Dragon. From the emulator's "File" menu, select "Load ROM." Choose the downloaded ROM you wish to play. The emulation experience can be tweaked in Red Dragon's "Options" and "Emulation" menus, where you can specify the particulars of how your computer mimics Red Dragon's control pad, view screens and sound.
